Ice + Circus

The show treated everyone to a trip to an ice rink yesterday after our 3pm show. It was a blast. Nothing as funny as a bunch of Acrobats from Zimbabwe and China, and a couple dwarf clowns, trying to skate for the first time. The rink was very nice inside a mall about 4 k's from the lot. There were a few natural skaters and only one serious injury, well four stitches in a lip serious...

Show has a 28 meter round top for now. New 31 meter is enroute to lot as I type, and will be here tonight. 6 semi trailers. One for hoof stock, one beast wagon, 2 concessions, one tent, and one for seats. Pulled with Mercedes and international tractors. One 8 ton box truck for props and lighting. Four 19' Rv trailers for acts. Three 27' rv trailers for the two owners and me. A 28' pull behind beast wagon. Two 26' three room executive bunkhouses. And a 28' camel trailer. There are 8 bunk rooms in the front of 3 of the semi trailers. Animals include 4 mini horse act, 3 pygmy goats, two ride ponies, 2 alligators, 4 pythons, 2 camels, 4 lions, a white tiger, and some dogs...

Seating is metal stringers with boards and chairs. Seats about 550. Power is from genny on trailer, not sure the kw. Show pipes in 3 phase 220v from city everywhere, so gen is just for shows. Show owns all rolling stock and provides accommodation to all workers and acts. Tent crew is mostly from Zimbabwe. Sort of the Mexicans of south Africa, except they all speak English. Oh, I left out the pancake wagon, which is another trailer that does pancakes and deep fried food.

My only follow up question is,,, did you find any Sushi?

Lots of sushi here, and cheap. Haven't had it yet, but there is a chain here called "Ocean Basket" that everyone raves about. Eating out is ridiculously cheap here. A place on the corner here called Mojo's has burger, fries, and pint of beer for 39. Rand.

That's about $5 us... It's like the food is free with purchase of a beer...
